Families in Focus Project
Harborne Parish Lands Charity has provided Community Resource Information Service with funding to deliver the Family in Focus Project to benefit families living within the Old Harborne Parish Lands zone, which covers most of Smethwick town of Sandwell City Council, as well as parts of Bearwood and Harborne neighbourhoods of Birmingham City Council. The primary objectives of the Families in Focus Project is to address issues resulting in Social Isolation through working with whole families, including parents, children, young people and older people living with the family or separately within the project catchment area.
Our understanding is that Social Isolation is strongly related to poverty, debts, poor access to food and other household goods, and can result in a wide range of negative impacts and consequences on the life of all the family. We strongly believe that Social Isolation is also strongly related to poor performance of children and young people, particularly in education and attitudes and can lead to be involved in anti-social behaviour, drugs or gangs.
The Families in Focus project is, therefore, presents a genuine effort to address Social Isolation to empower our communities through working with the whole family.
